Great to  see your shots from the other end of the country. I rarely get down there. Here in Yorkshire we had the National Power class 59s to keep us busy. Here's one heading to Drax Power Station, alongside the Aire and Calder canal, in 1997. chris uk

That's a great action shot, Chris. I was going to say you were very lucky there... but then the sun is almost always shining in Yorkshire! ;)

I thought that National Power livery looked very sharp... 

I noticed one of the shots has a loco with a bell above the front windshield.  Do UK rail ops use bells in regular use like we do over here in North America?

No, bells are not used at all on the UK's railway. Aurally, US railroads are definitely market leaders, with great sounding air horns and bells! The bell on 59001 and on 59201 are at one end and were simply there as a 'commemorative' nod to their American (GM/EMD) origins. You may be aware, but 59001 was the first US-made loco to be imported into the UK for mainline use.
