Abisko Östra (Sweden) Station
Author: GPutz

This station, and former electric substation, is on the Malmbannan (Ore Railway) between Narvik, Norway and Kiruna, Sweden, about 1,000 miles north of Stockholm and about 1,200 feet above sea level.  It's the gateway to Abisko National Park, although there is also a small Abisko Turiststation (see below) about five miles west in the park.  These pictures were taken from the overnight train from Narvik to Stockholm on 02.06.2012, or 6/2/2012.  At that time major work was in progress to expand the station platforms and track structure.

1. The Abisko Turiststation
2. There is also a 6-stall roundhouse with a covered turntable at Abisko Östra.  I'm sure it's used only for MoW equipment now.
