Third photo shows 35020 just a month after being rebuilt heading the lunchtime Pullman 'Bournemouth Belle'.

In unrebuilt form, 35020 was notorious for an incident on April 24, 1953, when the driving axle fractured while accelerating on a descending grade. This resulted in a temporary withdrawal of the entire class for inspections of the driving axles.  Three years later, 35020 would become the second of the rebuilt Merchants.
