An excellent and historic video.  Especially like the Class 66 units.
Did not know about Heathrow trains.  Always used taxi or car service.
Rode the Gatwick trains many times.

Great video, would anyone care to enlighting me on what I'm seeing.  I understand the locomotives as well as the passenger rolling stock in the middle however for the rest of the equipment I have no idea.

Those are match wagons, with the appropriate couplers for the locomotives at one end and for the modern passenger equipment at the other end.

Thank-you, that makes sense.  But, what are the flatcars for?  Are they also match wagons?

As well as providing coupling capability the wagons provide additional brake force.
