European Railroad Discussion > Not a bad few days

Friday saw the second of a weekly service carrying stone from Moreton on Lugg to Washwood Heath near Birmingham, which I think may be for HS2, construction of which is well underway. 66085 is emblazoned with the legend, Powered by HVO - Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil or chip fat as it's otherwise known. Sadly it doesn't smell like a fish and chip shop.

On Sunday GBRf run a loaded cement train down the Marches Line. Yesterday's was the first in daylight, it had been retimed, which helped, and ran early, which was even better.

Today in the spring sun I went for a bike ride from Abergavenny to Newport, about 25 miles, stopping in Caerleon for the empty steel from Dee Marsh which had 66113 Delivering for our Key Workers up front.

Excellent shots, and the weather's getting good for cycling at last, which is great news! I also saw 66113 a few days ago on the Dee Marsh-Margam.

Yep, that was it. Spectacularious clouds in your shot!

You had a super great few days, a superb combination of wonderful scenery and Class 66 locomotives!

Great photos from Nick and exhausted. Those red 66s stand out very nicely, and you get a treat down there with the red hoppers. chris uk

A fine set, Nick (and Ed). Thanks for sharing the lovely weather and scenery with us over on the other side of The Pond. Especially like the first image and all of the red, and exhaustED's added fourth image with the hills in the background, and the train of traditional mixed goods traffic on the sweeping curve -- an excellent location. I am always a sucker for the "big scene" like that.

Thanks for the comments. The train on the sweeping curve (an unusually good place in the UK for such a shot..) is an empty steel train with different types of covered wagon, all used for carrying steel coil.

Spring has sprung it looks like!
