Frankfurt, Germany Station 1996
Author: smf2mry

While in Frankfurt, I was staying at some tiny claustrophobic hotel by the station, so I escaped in the evening to the openness of the station platform to take in the activity.  September 24, 1996.

My wife and I went to Germany in the summer of 1993 to pick up our son, who had been spending his junior year of college as a student in Gottingen, north of Frankfurt. After we landed at the airport, our son guided us thru the logical, but overwhelming, maze of the Frankfurt station, for our first ride on the ICE up to Gottingen.  What I remember the most was the incredible intertwining of track leads and switches leaving the station.  Thanks for jogging that memory!

If you were to repeat that journey today, you could board the ICE directly at Frankfurt Airport (the ICE station at the airport opened in 1999), reverse direction at Frankfurt Hbf, and continue to Göttingen without a change of trains.
