Freight train meet on the Danube Delta, Ukraine
Author: gobbl3gook

In November 2017 I was bicycling southwest along the Danube Delta in Ukraine.

The rail line south from Odessa to the Danube runs along the highway part of the way.  And I noted a northbound freight in a siding, with a green signal for a southbound.

Anticipating a meet, I stopped, and within a minute or two the southbound rolled through.  Then the northbound pulled out.

A nice bit of luck for me, on a section of highway without a lot of scenery otherwise.

Ukrainian trains have a lot more deep rumbles in their sound profile than European-gauge trains.  And when you get diesel engines instead of the more common electric, you get even more bass notes.

Questions, comments, observations?

Photos from Ukraine are a real rarity on Trainorders.
Thanks for posting yours.
