Arriving in Lviv.  

Lots of freight and passenger train traffic on the final approach to Lviv.  

1) This fellow was all business.  Is that a flange wear gauge?  Something else?  Pretty nifty jig, whatever it is.  

2) Second look and flange inspector.  

3) Looks like a small railway museum next to the satelite station in Lviv.  150 years since the first railway came through?

4) The train came into a satellite station, a block away from the majestic main station.

Bonus photos -- chocolate carving 

I love dark chocolate with hazelnuts.  All the eastern European chocolate manufacturers have a dark chocolate with halzenuts bar.  I sample all of them wherever I am.  

This was an artisinal chocolate shop in Lviv.  Probably mostly for tourists.  And they had a woman carving a scene in chocolate in the window.  The dark chocolate with hazelnuts was not expecially memorable.  But I'm sure I enjoyed it at the time.

I strolled around Lviv for about 6 hours.  A very pretty, and poor city.  Everything was run down, transit was crowded.  But very beautiful.  I liked it a lot.

Yes, it was Lemberg, the capital of the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, a province within the Austro Hungarian Empire.

The station is in keeping with Lviv / Lemberg's status.
