The BVZ (Brig-Visp-Zermatt Bahn) was merged with the FO (Furka-Oberalp Bahn) in 2003 to become the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn, with headquarters in Brig. The merged railway runs from Zermatt in the west to Disentis/Muster in the east, with a short branch from Andermatt down to Goeschenen (at the north portal of the original Gotthard Tunnel).
