I may have had this entire car to myself.  Very pretty mountain scenery.  

thanks to pennengineer for the correct name of the mountains.  

1) the car had a tiny bay window.  

2) cute little railbus pair. 

3) track work vehicle, railbuses.

I didn't keep the window open for the entire trip, apparently.  It was cold!

(Interesting, mapy.cz doesn't have the turntable or whisker tracks.  I thought it used the same database as OpenRailwayMap). 

Czech railways were pleasant and well maintained.  And per the previous post, the ticket price for this 1 hr + ride was US$2.85.

7) bicycle paths are well-maintained in the Czech Republuc, too!  
Looking at OpenCycleMap, and the sequence of photos on my phone, this location may be Lansperk, where a path follows closely along the tracks for a few hundred meters.

Is this the area known in German as the “Sudetenland”, a major bone of contention in the run up to World War 2?

The Sudetenland which Hitler coveted was much more extensive than just the mountainous area of the same name in the north of Czechoslovakia, it covered parts of western and southern CZ as well.
