I'm on the Glacier Express  about 45 minutes from Zermatt.

One of the few counties I know where there are cog railways which form part of the general transportation system (as opposed to being specifically tourist lines up hills and mountains). Zermatt, for example, is car free.

More precisely, it is a rack. The cog is on the vehicle.

On this particular railway (Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn), the Abt rack system is used.
