I've been aware of "Geoff" since he featured in a TV programme focusing on the day to day events and occurrences on the London Underground from 2002-05 called appropriately enough - "The Tube". Still repeated occasionally!

But while he admits the Tube is his first love, he has an array of videos on a wide range of train and rail subjects around Britain. If you haven't seen it the All the Stations trips he did with his girlfriend, now wife Vicki are well worth watching. (The 3 individual series see the couple visit, in order, Great Britain (2,563 stations at time of filming); Ireland - Republic and North (198) and most recently the Crown Dependency of the Isle of Man (approx 90 stations).

I digress, getting back to your main point - I'm sure many passengers will welcome the new trains, though I get the impression the ones the present order will be replacing, the 1973 stock (built 1974-77, in service 1975) on the Picadilly Line is in better condition than the 1972 stock (built 1972-74, in service 1972) of the Bakerloo Line which are now the oldest operational electric trains in the UK and getting noticeably tired, much more so than the '73 stock.

Anyway, it's interesting to see the developments and new technology being implemented.
