Small pick ups have derailed trains many times. Things like speed of both the train and the truck, location, i.e. on a curve, and other factors make a difference. I hit a large stone once, it went up under the plow and struck the first traction motor...broke it open and messed up some windings.....if it hadn't been made of breakable rock....it might well have lifted us off the rail! As it was we had to dispose of the lead locomotive...and then ran backwards with the second locomotive to a place where we could tie down without blocking anything! |
