EMD Class 66 Variety
Author: exhaustED

The UK's dominant freight traction type, the ubiquitous class 66 is often criticised for being too common... but there is still a lot of variation in paint schemes/liveries as well as in the train types that they handle. A short stint on the west coast main line last Thursday, just south of Crewe in Cheshire produced 3 southbound freights with 3 class 66s in very different colour schemes.

1. GBRf class 66 no. 66747, named 'Made in Sheffield' and wearing a soecial customer's paint scheme leads a loaded limestone train.

During my time at ERS Railways we had a manager who made sure every new Class66 6601-6617 had some small differing details on the front of the cabine.
If you search on the internet for 'ERSR 6601' etc. you'll see it.
We had about five well-known train-photographers at that company, mostly very devoted to our trains and customer/owner Maersk. And trying to make our trains interesting to photographers.

This any good? A heavy loaded train of stone reaching the summit of Llanvihangel Bank, it's about as noisy as a 66 in good order on a dry rail gets.
