June 1st was not a Good Day for Swiss Railways
Author: SOO6617

Two collisions happened yesterday in Switzerland. Both involved a MOW train. In the first case a pair of BLS locomotives rear-ended a ballast cleaning train with the leading locomotive overriding a flatcar at the rear of the ballast cleaning train. This happened at Zollikofen station, near Berne.

The accident was also captured on station CCTV cameras (Note I had to watch a short ad first).

The second accident happened at Henggart station on the line from Winterthur to Schaffhausen. It appears that a conveyor system was not secured and swung over an adjacent track where it was stuck by the locomotive of a passing S-Bahn train at speed. Lucky that it was a Class Re450 locomotive leaading and not an EMU.

I see that post-rebuilding a BLS 465 can be MU'd with TRAXX / Vectrons, which is a change.

Opinion:  I think it looks better in the green than blue, but I'm surprised it has the RM/passenger symbol as well;  perhaps that will go away once all the Flirts are delivered.

Some of the Re465s are intended to replace the Re425 "Brownies" on the carshuttle trains, also they will haul the Golden Pass between Zweisimmen and Interlaken Ost. That wouldn't require the whole fleet of eighteen.
