Author: march_hare Is it realistic to think that a large portion of the landlocked grain in Ukraine could be exported by rail to Western European ports? There's a change in gauge involved, do the port facilities even exist for grain export?

The head of the Ukraine Wheat Marketing Board (or some such) was interviewed and said rail could only handle 1.5m tonnes (out of 6m) for export, mainly as a consequence of the gauge change.

Date: 06/19/22 10:26 Re: Ukrainian grain by rail? Author: up833 Heard this morning on NPR that there are small ports on the Danube river. Truckers have waited weeks to unload. Slow because the infrastructure was neglected when larger ports opened on the Black Sea, lack of workers and the boom booms that arrive every once in awhile.
