Having not used the Royal Train to ferry the Queen from Scotland to London, makes me wonder if it will it be used by Royalty for any reason? It appears that King Charles is in the mode of cutting expenses.

The Royal Yacht was long in the tooth on one hand and with the burgeoning of reasonable cost air transport, the Queen ever keen for economy decided it had to go being expensive to operate needing overhaul and virtually obsolete as a mode of regular transportation. If King Charles is cheap he came by it honest...well...ER2 was frugal but not cheap. But still there is indeed precedence.
