More autumnal shots from the UK, specifically Wales
Author: 86235

Three more shots of the autumnal colours in South Wales. As in Yorkshire it's been a very mild and relatively calm season so far, hence all the leaves still on the trees.

1: Leaving Abergavenny 67029 is pushing the 1V96 Holyhead to Cardiff last Thursday.
2: Yesterday 66087 on 6C83 loaded coal from Cwmbargoed to the Port Talbot steelworks at Wern ddu, approaching the mile long Caerphilly Tunnel.
3: Today's 6V75 empty steel to Margam Yard approaching Abergavenny.

Very nice set, Nik. Despite my best efforts, I have yet to see one of the Welsh loco hauled. And to say I live in the heart of the Yorkshire coalfield, I don't see coal trains any more!! chris uk

Thanks, along with 6M77 the only domestic coal left. Plenty more loco hauled services from December once the ex-Grand Central sets enter service. TfW were busy training staff on them this morning, two round trips from Canton to Hereford and back.

Yep, but not domestic coal, imported via Redcar and Immingham.
