Portugal - Lisbon to Entroncamento
Author: 3rdboxcar

Had a long weekend in Lisbon, we had a trip up to Entroncamento to the Portuguese National Railway Museum. This thread will be the trip.
It takes between 50 minutes and 90 minutes depending on what type of train you travel on, since the French Corail design coaches will not last much longer we took the Inter city service [only 10 minutes slower than the Alfa Pendular] and return on the Urban / Regional service.

Our train at Santa Apolonia station formed of a 5600 series Siemens / Krauss Maffei /Sorefame locomotive and 6 Corail coaches in various states of disrepair. The Alfa Pendular left 10 minutes before our train.
Corail First and second class coaches.
Interior of our first class coach, we were lucky our double glazing was not condensed.

For their age the Corail coach air condition was spot on and rode very smoothly at 125mph. The return on the EMU was 90 minutes and stopped at all stations.

2240 class Urban / Regional / Inter regional unit, the overbridge takes you to the railway museum.

Excellent, those stainless steel Sorefame coaches are certainly showing their age.
