Author: SvenMolson Nohab - Sweden created a group of custom built diesels for LKAB (Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag) for use in switching the company's massive railyard in Kiruna, Sweden. Called the T-46, the series was not the most attractive piece of motive power ever created. Eventually, all were repowered with Cummins engines and received end cabs and remain in service,

Date: 01/22/23 10:21 Re: How Ugly can an EMD Powered Diesel Get? Author: SvenMolson LKAB has a total of 4 T46 units, all based at Kiruna. In Narvik, T44 EMD powered switchers are used. The photo below is one of the EMD's caught last spring headed towards Kiruna for its periodic maintenance.

They are now operated by Infra organizations I believe; have you seen any of these, Sven ?
The air intake arrangement for the as-built T46 is interesting -- with both [ ie on each side ] of the intakes ahead of the cab, apparently all combustion and cooling air went down, under the cab, and then up again ?
