Freight traffic through Florence?
Author: inCHI

I'm in Florence for a few days and took an early morning walk to Firenze Campo Marte station. From what I could see on Open Railway Maps, it seemed like this was the only route to the south, and therefore might have freight traffic. Can anyone confirm that, or any idea of how much traffic there is and when it might run? Thanks!

Last October while vacationing in Italy,  my wife and I took the train from Firenze S.M.N. to Arezzo for the day. I don't recall seeing any freight traffic. On the outbound trip we rode a Regionale that took the longer route that included Pontassieve but returned on a Regionale Veloce that traveled through the tunnel route after Figline e Incisa Valdarno, Sorry I can't provide anymore information than that..

I'm afraid the main flows are through Reggio Emilia and Bologna to thd north of Florence.
