One of the many reasons which makes the Czech Republic an attractive destination for railfans is the large number of loco hauled trains. But these are decreasing as more and more MUs, diesel and electric, are introduced. So here's a look at some of the MUs dwatry and I encountered on our recent railfanning jaunt.

1: A Skoda built class 640 EMU, christened RegioPanter by Český Dráhy (CD), the state railway operator.
2: Many local services paid for by central or regional government are operated by companies other than CD, like GWTrain Regio. The DMU is a secondhand class 628 from Deutsch Bahn.
3: A RegioPanter on a stopping train from Ústí nad Labem to Děčín

4: The service across the Czech / German border between Děčín and Schöna, serving the small riverside communities is operated by DB using a class 642 DMU, presumably because DB don't have an EMU capable of operating off CD's 3kV DC.
5: Regiojet is both an open access operator - running trains for profit - and a regional contractor. This is one of their contract services, between Děčín and Ústí nad Labem západ (west) along the east bank line. They have acquired a small fleet of these class 654s from Polish builder PESA.
6: The CityElefant double decker EMUs are mainly used on services radiating from centres like Prague. Here a Prague to Ústí stopping train is passing a Děčín to Prague semi fast on the approach to Dolní Zálezy.

There are many videos on YT covering the rails in Czech Republic.  I continue to be impressed with the infrastructure, modern equipment and variety of operators including two open access operators(RegioJet and Leo Express).  Take a look.  I think you too will be pleasantly surprised.

I enjoyed all of these shots particularly the panned shot of the green RegioJet train. A lot of variety there.
