Milano Lambrate --unusual sighting
Author: WP17

We are spending a week in Milan and I have been motivated (actually inspired) by TO member (and fellow Bay Area resident) by his recent coverage of Milan Trams and rail action espcially at Lambrate. So I headed to Lambrate yesterday afternoon on a very hot (mid 90s) day to check out the action. Lots of passenger action but only one freight train in the 90 minutes I spent there before succumbing to the heat.
However I did see something that I did not recognize:  a long FS passenger train in a strking blue and yellow livery. It stopped at platfom 4 but no passenger loading/unloading occurred. I consulted my go-to Milan expert (Duncan of course) who explained what I saw was the the instrument/test train for RFI -- the FS infrastructure company.

The Italian version of Doctor Yellow, the test train they use in Japan.

In the UK Network Rail have a range of test trains including an HST. All painted yellow.

Is yellow a standard color for test trains?

Nice pictures.  I always enjoy a train that's smiling...
