Covered Hopper in Basel
Author: pbrasky

Five years ago my wife and I took a Viking Rhine River Cruise (Basel -> Amsterdam). We met the ship in Basel and didn't depart until late the next day.  Believe it or not we docked next to a salvage yard where I photographed this covered hopper and its trucks.  Hope you like it!

Nice decorative touch they applied to an ordinary loading facility.

The covered hopper has graffiti just like ours.

Very interesting - thanks. From the shape of the body of the hopper, looks like it may be an adoption of the ACF Centerflow design for the European loading gauge.

If you think graffiti on rail cars is just an American problem then you need to get out more.
You see it in varying degrees in Europe and in "developed" places like Australia too.
