Under The Catenary at Firenze-Rifredi

Disappointed I didn't get a single freight train, I made a second trip up to Firenze-Rifredi on September 15, 2024. Still didn't get any freight, but I did get some passenger photos in neat light.

Image one - An NTV Italo Astom ETR675 Pendolino heads south at Firenze-Rifredi station in the Florence suburbs. This train is traveling from Bologna to Naples.

Image two - An FS Trenitalia Pop Alstom ETR104 Coradia Stream heads south out of Firenze-Rifredi on its way to Lucca.

Image three - FS Trenitalia Alta Velocità Frecciarossa 9426 from Naples to Bologna comes north through Firenze-Rifredi with a double set of ETR1000s. Built by Hitachi, who I still think of as making transistor radios for the beach, these things are sleek and fast.

Image four - Not sure what it is about these Fiat ETR485 Pendolinos, but I really love them (and loved riding them too). I mean, honestly, they have pretty much zero design. But they are still cool. This is FS Trenitalia Alta Velocità Frecciargento 8556 from Rome to Genova.

Image five - An FS Trenitalia Pop Coradio Stream set pulls to a stop to pick up passengers at Firenze Ridredi.

Image six - Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori Italo 9947 from Bologna to Afragola passes through south. The train is a set of AGV575 Avelia.

Great series of photos.  Is it possible that these tracks are only used by passenger trains?  A few years ago we traveled from Florence to Rome on high speed tracks reserved for passenger trains only.  We ran parallel to the original line in many places.

When we were coming in on the train the evening before, I did see a freight passing here. Totally possible that was the one a day (or a weird move that took it off its normal route), but it got my hopes up.
