European Railroad Discussion > Freight Car Friday: Hungary and Czechia EditionDate: 01/10/25 10:11 Freight Car Friday: Hungary and Czechia Edition Author: NMlurker I had almost no railfan time in Hungary and just one free day in Czechia (Czech Republic) that was dominated by passenger trains, but here are three images with a freight car theme.
1. As common as GATX tank cars are in Europe, this was the only one that I managed to photograph from a passing train in Hegyeshalom, Hungary. The more common "large print" GATX tank cars are black with white lettering. Also seen were GATX covered grain hoppers and low-profile hybrid well/flat cars for trailers both in neon green with blue lettering. 2. More Altmann (ARS) open autoracks in their attractive green and yellow scheme passing westbound through Praha-Libeň (Prague suburb of Libeň) behind a České dráhy (CD: Czech Railways) Vectron with a QR code for "my train app." The loaded open autorack trains were my favorite, hearkening back to my youth and simpler times. 3. In last Friday's post I referenced seeing this train but having forgotten that I had a photograph of it. There are actually three open-top Innofreight containers per flat car. I see a white aggregate so I would guess maybe limestone. Westbound through Praha-Libeň behind a CD Cargo 363-class electric. A subject we do not see enough of, since folks tend to focus on passenger trains and trams.
