1. We took this sleek X 2000 from Gothenburg to Stockholm.
2. And then this to the Stockholm airport.
3. On the side of a locomotive.???

X 2000s in Gothenburg. Not very colorful, but they fit the weather.

Gothenburg Central Station. Tracks in the pavement are for trams.

Thanks for the tram and train pictures.  The "VR" in picture #3 stands for Valtion Rautatietet, State Railway in the Finish language.  In my last visit in 2012, VR was contracted to do MoW on the Swedish railway.  Gerry

Thank you. It was the "Trainy McTrainface" that I found funny and weird. What's that all about?

It's a takeoff on the Brits Navy ship Boaty McBoatface after there was a contest to name it.

The research ship for which the name was originally intended was and is not a Royal Navy vessel.  The name was eventually applied to a smaller submersible research vehicle.

OK, but what was a VR locomotive doing in Gothenburg, Sweden, especially since the VR gauge is 5 feet, 1524 mm?  Gerry

In pictures 12 and 14 you have the VY, Norwegian railway, train from Oslo. VY runs the Oslo to Gotenburg service while SJ, the Swedish state railway, runs the Oslo to Stockholm service. That train looks like a standard Flirt, probably the long distance variant,  used in most Norwegian VY services.

All that's happened is VR has bought out Arriva Sweden, so they now operate the services previously operated by Arriva, using the equipment and the staff previously employed by Arriva. This is very common across Europe.

And as well as trains VR also operates bus services in some parts of Sweden, Arriva originally being a British bus company.
