travel from Brussels to Freiburg -- middle July
Author: DocJohn

Need to travel by train from Brussels to Freiburg,  My German friends have suggested going via Paris.  However, I am concerned about making connections in Paris when we are both senior citizens and have luggage.

After business in SW Germany, will head to Berlin and then to Hamburg.  Will be going first class.  I was somewhat younger when I did Europe by train before.

Advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,

John

www.raileurope.com suggests via Köln.

Catching the two hourly ICE from Brussels to Frankfurt, changing to a Hamburg to Basel service at Köln Hbf. About five and a half hours end to end with 40 minutes in Köln.

The Hamburg to Basel might also be a EuroCity with a SBB dining car.

It would be easier to change in Frankfurt instead of Köln.

A big thank you to all for your help and suggestions.  Used the Rail Europe site and got the tickets booked.  Had much difficulty on my end dealing with iPhone text messaging problems that Verizon fixed remotely (confirmatory text message codes were taking 20 minutes to get to me).  Also, I now have the Rail Europe app on my iPhone.
