Signal Sunday: Italy Edition
Author: NMlurker

Just a few shots that include typical Italian signals.

1. A 'Minuetto' DMU at Siena. I could not detect that this train had a permissive signal and it went off and parked itself. The green signal is for the right track for a train that would depart shortly from the station.

2. A 'Blues' hybrid trainset departs from Siena. Note what I believe to be a vintage water standpipe in the left foreground. Also, an interesting location for a statue.

3. A 'Rock' EMU rolls northward through Pisa San Rossore which is the station closest to the famous leaning tower of Pisa and a junction of two lines. The station is actually within a wye. Someone will know the difference between the round and square targets. There is a freight yard just around the corner to the left and a southbound freight rolled through just as we were arriving back to the station.

Great pics!

The square signal backplates denote ones placed on the right side of the tracks. They also at times add a helpful arrow indicating which track the signal applies to.
