European Railroad Discussion > British steam rail tour companies

I’m doing some Spring 2026 vacation planning and am interested in tour companies in the UK and/or US that focus on UK steam. Week to two week tours would be of interest.
Any recommendations or experience you’ve had is appreciated

You could check out Steam Dreams.  When we lived in London we did one of their trips and it was very fun.  They tend to be one-day trips though.  Not sure who operates multi-day trips.

My wife and I have been on Great Rail. They are based out of London. We've done tours with them and are satisfied. Many of their tours include a day or two of riding a British heritage railroad. It satisfied the wife and me both with a mixture of regular touring and trains.

These guys have been sending me ads for years.

I have never used them, so no opinion. Just throwing it out for a possible option.

The only multi day tour behind steam of that sort of length is the Great Britain railtour, which I think is promoted by the Railway Touring Company. It's usually at the end of April / beginning of May and visits all three countries within Britain in six or seven days.
