Semaphores at Hanau, Germany
Author: RailRyder

While our steam excursion train was being watered today at Hanau, Germany, I discovered that many of the station tracks at the Hanau Hauptbahnhof are controlled by semaphores. So here are a few pics I got today even though it was a dark and dreary day.

Thanks for these interesting pictures.  I, too, have noted these in some locations in Germany.  Are these operated mnechanically or electronically?  Gerry

Is it the case that the Stellwerk Hs (tower) and these semaphores are maintained as part of the railway museum there?

Nope. Part of the active railroad.

Hello Jim,
are you aware that this coming weekend a few more steam trains will be running in more or less the same area on a regular schedule? On Saturday they will operate Pirmasens - Zweibruecken, on Sunday Pirmasens Nord - Landau. On Friday there will be “private” operations from Kaiserslautern to Kusel, possibly a freight around noon. A passenger service is supposed to be operating up to Bad Kreuznach, too. In all the above cases 23 058, a light passenger engine, and 58 311 will do the honors. They will be assisted by a V 100. Find the schedules on www rolph de. On Monday 23 058 will return to Wuerzburg via Worms - Bensheim - Darmstadt- connector to Aschaffenburg, and finally Wuerzburg. Weather may be dismal though.
Cheers
