European Railroad Discussion > Freight in Piteå SwedenDate: 10/18/25 01:14 Freight in Piteå Sweden Author: Waybiller Spent a week in Piteå Sweden for work. Tried to take some photos, but with the very low light angles it was very difficult to compose decent shots.
Still, it was pretty weather with still some nice fall colors. Edit since I posted uncropped photos. First image is a Hector Rail train passing through from the harbor (HHN) going past the old roundhouse. Second image is the Piteå yard with the Smurfit Westrock plant in distance. One wagon is on the outbound track getting ready for the next morning's train 5015 departure to Hallsberg. The crews here have a very nice life when the weather is good. Not so easy in the winter, however. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 10/18/25 01:18 by Waybiller. Date: 10/18/25 01:24 Re: Freight in Piteå Sweden Author: Waybiller Image 3 is the Piteå yard office, with the Green Cargo switcher hiding in background. Really wish the fence hadn't been there.
Image 4 is the Green Cargo local coming back from the harbor. They'll then pull the paper mill in image 2 and build the outbound train. |
