Since the superstructure of many branch lines could only support an axle load of less than twelve tons, the total weight had to be distributed across a total of six axles. The steam locomotive, designated Class 378, was equipped with a leading and trailing axle and four coupled wheel sets. 167 locomotives were purchased in Austria alone, with another 25 from the Slovak State Railways. When the "Nostalgia Railways in Carinthia" were looking for a powerful tank locomotive for nostalgic trains on the ÖBB network, they were offered the "378.32" by a Bavarian association. The locomotive, which was still equipped with a Giesl ejector in the 1960s, returned to Austria via the Czech Republic under its own power after its purchase – the first time on a lease basis. It later regained its ÖBB number (93.1332) and was repainted. After several major boiler repairs and the fitting of a PZB (point-type train control) system, the locomotive is now in service several times a year on special trips on the ÖBB network. Occasionally, it can also be seen on the Weizelsdorf – Ferlach line.
