European Railroad Discussion > An Early Christmas Present...Date: 12/01/25 12:44 An Early Christmas Present... Author: exhaustED An early Christmas present... in the form of a 2nd opportunity to photograph a clean class 60 on a 2400 tonne stone train within a couple of weeks!
The train ran for the first time in 'reasonable' weather/light on Sunday 16th, but this Sunday just gone, the weather gods decided they'd make more of an effort and remove all the clouds covering the sun as the train rumbled by. December light in the UK can be really condusive to good photography when (or if!) the sun does make an appearance! The train was routed rather unusually on the 'up fast' line that's normally reserved for express passenger trains, due to overhead line or signal issues I think. At this point near Crewe in Cheshire, the train is about 2 hours into its 8 hour journey south from a large granite quarry in North Wales to the outskirts of London. Edited 4 time(s).
