Fall Euro Trip Part 5 - Around Toulouse
Author: dwatry

As I made my way into France, my focus became the remaining SNCF InterCity trains, especially the ones with "Nez Cassé", or "broken nose" locomotives.  But any passenger trains with a loco would do, as these become rarer and rarer in Europe, replaced by EMUs and DMUs.

1)  A 51500-series EMU on a regional working at Puyoo, headed to Pau.
2)  460000-series Hexafret switcher at Puyoo.
3)  TGV Duplex 200-series train at Orthez, along the Gave de Pau.

4) What we used to call an "effect shot" - SNCF EMU in Toulouse before heading to dinner.
5)  More Toulouse - maybe after dinner and too much wine.
6)  Next morning - more sober photography and the first InterCity (IC) train of the trip, with a Nez Casse on the point!  This is IC 4655 from Bordeaux to Marseille at rue de l'Aqueduc in Toulouse .

7)  IC Train #3650 on its way to Paris Austerlitz from Toulouse behind a Sybic loco in Saint Rustice.
8) Another Sybic - this time heading up IC #4756 from Marseille to Bordeaux, shown here along the Canal Lateral a la Garonne in Pompignan.
9)  And yes there is freight in France - here's a Europorte tank train in Pompignan.

10)  IC Train #4659 running about 67 minutes late through Pompignan - finally a Nez Casse!
11)  Ouigo TGV along the Canal Lateral a la Garonne.
12)  IC #4758 from Marseille snuck up op on me, running about 20 minutes late behind another Sybic.

Very nice set Duncan, particularly the Nez Casses.

Enjoyed it! Particularly #3 and #11. And all the freights and loco-hauled trains. Tres bien.
