A tourist rides the Snowdon Mountain Railway
Author: NMlurker

The Snowdon Mountain Railway is a narrow gauge cog railway that [usually][sometimes?] goes to the summit of Mount Snowdon in North Wales. While we were there are on a pretty nice day, the winds were deemed to be too high to go all the way to the top. They have both steam and diesel locomotives but I only saw diesels in operation even though there was a steamer under steam down at the terminal if I remember correctly.

1. Here is a downhill train arriving behind an 0-6-0 siderod. Note the combo crane-signal bridge.

2. North Wales is rugged and beautiful.

3. This shot exceeded the capability of my phone but shows the uphill train that we would meet at the siding where we stopped short of the summit.

4. Back down at the bottom, here is the 0-6-0 siderod diesel of my train.

5. And off it goes. Not sure if it was done for the day or just shifting over to a different track for loading.
