European Railroad Discussion > Taormina Giardini-Naxos StationDate: 01/22/26 13:04 Taormina Giardini-Naxos Station Author: 86235 Some pictures I took of the station, it's beautifully maintained by Trenitalia. The railway through Taormina was opened in the 1860s by the Società Vittorio Emanuele, which became the Società Italiana per le Strade Ferrate Meridionali before being nationalised on the formation of the FS (Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane) on July 1st 1905. The current station was opened in the 1920s when Taormina was a very fashionable resort ( it still is, season two of the White Lotus was filmed there). The decorative ceiling in the booking hall and in the first class waiting room are very attractive, as is the tiled platform. And no one is bothered by anyone wandering about taking pictures.
