If all goes to plan the final fleet of HST's will carry their last passengers in late 2028.
ScotRail will replace them with 22 five car class 222 trains being displaced at East Midlands
Trains by new dual-mode units.  Alstom will put them through an £80 million refurbishment
before they enter service with ScotRail in 2027-2028.  From Railway Supply:

Sorry to see them retired.  I loved the HSTs!

BTW - did ScotRail modify the front windshields on the HSTs?  It looks a little different than during the period when I saw them most often (early 1980s).

That is an artists impression of one of the replacement 222s, a Voyager-clone, ScotRail HSTs look like this.
