Okay, technically, I have crossed over the Douro into the city of Gaia, but still part of the Porto tram network.

1. The famous bridge in Porto is the double-deck metal arch bridge known as the Dom Luís I bridge (Ponte Luíz I) and dates from 1886. Trams operate across the upper deck along with hordes of tourists. The trams are of modern electric design.

2. South of the bridge I captured this tram with special paint scheme. While it looks like street running, the limited vehicle traffic was on either side of the tram right-of-way.

3. Now up at the lookout from the Church of the Serra do Pilar Monastery we see another tram crossing the bridge.

4. A southbound tram with another set in a special paint scheme. The majority of the construction cranes are not building new buildings but rebuilding/repurposing existing (i.e., old) buildings.

5. Not something you see every day: an active tram line on a bridge swarming with pedestrians. The white cylindrical building at the upper, left is the Church of Serra do Pilar.

6. Porto has an extensive network of 'vintage' tram lines, most of which are out of service due to infrastructure work throughout the town. One line that is active is purely for tourists.
