Trams in Sofia, Bulgaria
Author: RailRyder

I was in Sofia, Bulgaria last week and found their trams to be quite delightful! They have a variety of makes and models and color schemes, making it very interesting!

If you tap in with your credit card, and use the same credit card all day long, they have fare capping at about $2 for all the rides you want all day long!

Their tram network is quite extensive and well run, and coupled with their modern subway, you can get around town just fine!

I particularly like the older tram plinthed next to the only historic Mosque in town as a visitor center, very convenient, near all the major touist sites.

The green three-section tram No. 671 is from Basel, Switzerland. The Sofia system has retained its livery and number.

It looks like they are unwittingly operating a museum. What is the track gaugen- meter, Cape?

Sofia operates two gauges - nominally metre (but actually 1.09m) and standard gauge.
