I had just a bit of free time one evening in Valladolid - Campo Grande, Spain. All of these images were taken between 7:43 PM and 8:30 PM on May 21, 2026.

1. Freights were hard to come by during my time in Spain and Portugal, but my best opportunity came in Valladolid. I had barely gotten to the platform when this container train came north. Yes, the graffiti is bad. This is a Continental Rail Euro 4000, #256 001, a six-axle electric built by Stadler, Iberian gauge at 1668 mm.

2. And the going away shot. Almost every container was a 45-footer.

3. My enjoyment of the containers was soon blocked by the passage of whatever a renfe Avlo is. Certainly not standard renfe colors.

4. A high-speed, standard gauge renfe Avant service two-unit set arrives at Valladolid. The two sets would separate here.

5. After having been stopped for a bit, the renfe avlo train departs.

6. The front half of the renfe Avant train rolls into the station on track 1.

7. A northbound renfe Avant service departs on Track 2.

8. A duck-billed renfe Alvia Talgo arrives on Track 3. High-speed, standard gauge.

10. A rather new-looking renfe "Media Distancia" EMU arrives northbound.

11. The second half of the renfe Avant service train is now under the shed on Track 1.

12. An older, somewhat worse for wear renfe EMU all the way over on Track 5. The abandoned freight yard can be seen in the background.

13. A southbound renfe Alvia service Talgo has arrived on Track 3.

14. And the rear of a northbound renfe Alvia service Talgo on Track 4 in the fading sunshine.

15. I had almost left the station and somehow got all the way back over to Track 5 just in time to capture another heavily-graffitied Continental Rail Stadler Euro 4000 on a container train.

Good stuff - thanks for sharing!  I was in Valladolid back in '23, visiting my nephew who was living there for the year, working as a teacher in some small town outside Valladolid.  Unfortunately I never got a chance to check out the rail action there...

Avlo is Renfe's low cost service, as Ouigo is to SNCF in France.

Stadler for sure, but but the pantograph gives it away
as a Stadler 6000. The face also is the generation
after the Euro 4000 production was ended by tighter
Euro 5 emissions standards.
