I took the morning train from Oslo, Norway, to Malmö, Sweden.  Malmö is directly west about 25 miles across the Oresund Strait (between the North Sea/Atlantic Ocean and the Baltic Sea) from Copenhagen, Denmark, and the two cities are connected by a combined highway and railway bridge/tunnel that opened in 2000.

1. Central Station
2. Øresundståg (Swedish) or Öresundståg (Danish) Class X31 EMU #4330 arrived.  These trains run between Malmö and Copenhagen and beyond on both sides of the straight.  As of 2026 train operations and maintenance are contracted to VR Sverige, a Swedish subsidiary of VR of Finland.  See the reference for more than you’ll ever want to know.
3. Såknetrafiken Class X11 (See X10 in the reference) EMU #3381, Henry Dunker, arrived.  Såkne is a county in southern Sweden.  Today the trains are called Pågatågen, owned by Såknetrafiken and managed by VR Sverige.  Fun fact: “å” is pronounced “o” as in the oboe musical instrument.

I took an Øresundståg X31 train to Copenhagen Central Station.  There was/is an intermediate stop at the Copenhagen International Airport.

4 & 5. DSB Class ME #1533 pulled a train and ME #1509 shoved a train.  Thirty seven these diesel-electric locomotives were built by Henchel in Germany between 1981 and 1985 with EMD 16-645E3B engines (GP40-2).  They were all retired by the end of 2021.
6. This is a fourth generation 8-car Class SA commuter train built by Alstom-LHB and operated by DSB S-tåg.  Only one of the eight cars has two axles, the other seven have only one axle each.

7. Central Station
8. DSB ME #1510 shoved a train.  I think this was the original paint scheme on MEs.
9. A train was shoved by DBS EA #3022, built in 1993 as the highest number in the class of 22 units.  Class EA was the first class of electric locomotives purchased by DSB starting in 1984.  It was based on the German DB Class 120.  The last of the class was retired in December 2020.

12 & 13. SJ Rc6 #1392 shoved its overnight (Sovvagn means Sleeping Car) train out of the station.

14. This is a stub-end station.  A tunnel was opened in 2010 under it, and Øresundståg and Såknetrafiken trains no longer use the upper level.
15. Two SJ X2 EMU trains raced to the station.  One was probably from Stockholm and the other was probably from Gothenburg.
16. A Såknetrafiken X11 train departed.  The last X11 was retied in September 2013, replaced by Class X61 EMUs.  The large building at right looming over the station was the main post office.
