European Railroad Discussion > Worth framing

Framed by the cab-door window of a Wengernalpbahn train en route to Kleine Scheidegg in the Swiss Alps, the west and north faces of the Eiger are set off by clear blue sky on the morning of September 28 last year.
 
When I’d visited six years earlier in the same week of September, much of the mountain was still bare and the sky was grey, but an early snowfall last year created this scene more in keeping with our Alpine expectations.

Before rounding a curve, the tangent track created a clear line of sight to the famous mountain, demanding a photograph, even in these cramped confines.  

I wasn’t in the cab for this shot.  Rather, I was shooting through a glass divider into the cab and out through the small vertical window in the cab’s outer door. The driver sits to the right behind a wide windshield. This can be seen in the second photo after the train had arrived at Kleine Scheidegg. The unit is a three-car BDhe 4/8 Pano made by Stadler.

Tomorrow, I’ll post a series showing why I’d returned to Kleine Scheidegg for a second visit.
