Railroaders' Nostalgia > Who is this guy?

In my younger days,both in age and working for the railroad,I had many different jobs.
One of those was a relief job at Tampa Union Station on the weekends.
I was told that if any train left late,I was to call Waycross,Ga.(ACL heaven) and
report the same to Mr.?.
Well over a period of time,I always wondered who Mr.? was.Being young and full
of P&V one day I maned up and asked him.I found out he was just some clerk!
Being an Seaboard Air Line guy I was a little put back.
Although ACL headquarters was in Jacksonville,nothing could be done without
checking with Waycross first.We SAL guys believe no one at the "Purple Palace"
could go to the bathroom with out permission from Waycross.

Long live the "Through the Heart of the South" route.
