Group Portrait at ATSF San Bernardino Yard Office
Author: spider1319

Image was recorded at the interim yard office east of the old UP roundhouse at San Bernardino.I think this facility lasted a couple of years while the intermodal yard and new yard office on 4th Street was being constructed.Temporary in nature, it consisted of modular buildings. The occasion was Eugene O"Neills retirement.I am sure there were more people but getting them outside for pictures is like convincing cats or grandkids it is a good idea. The date is 1996 I think all are now retired and hopefully still alive.Maybe we can get some comments from our Santa Fe guys.I can name them all.Bill Webb

Go ahead and name them.  Is that Gary Barta on the lower right?

Only recognize a few but of course can't remember any names! Only actually worked in San Bernardino a couple of times in emergency off LA board.

Bill,
The only guy I don't know is top left next to Dave Cassidy. A funny thing about Gene O'Neill, nobody that I have talked to knows anything about him or his whereabouts after he retired. It's like he just disappeared. He and Paul Trotter were always a good braking partner team to work with.
Lots of memories here. Thanks for posting.

Bill,
On closer inspection I do recognize Mike Lee. I think what threw me off was the extremely rare smile on his face.
