The train charged southbound through the night.

Sprawled out in a double seat in one of the coaches was a rather rotund redneck, suffering the aftereffects of copious consumption of fermented sugars… or in other words, he was drunk.  His recent dietary history was lost to history but whatever it may have been, its combination with the consumption of the brewer’s art had a predictable result: surrounded by other passengers on three sides, he let one rip.

Sitting in front of him was a little old lady, who was taken aback by the gastric outburst.

“Well, the LEAST you could do is say ‘excuse me.’”

“F*** you, b****,” replied our bubbly Bubba.

Across the isle, another individual took exception to the comment directed at the older lady.  One thing led to another, and moments later the Great Gasball threw a punch.  Things devolved from there.

A few miles down the road, a couple of squad cars were waiting at the next station.  The train came to a stop, and the cops approached the conductor.

“What started it?”

“Well officer, it started over a fart.”

“Excuse me?!?!”

“Well sir, if he had said that, it probably never would have happened.”

A fart, or a journey.  In German it would all sound the same.
