SP Locomotive Data Books
Author: Westbound

Locomotive Data Books can be traced back to 1951 on the Southern Pacific, which then included both steam and diesel. Years later they were reduced to pocket size, measuring 5.375 x 3.25 inches. All SP diesel locomotives in service at the time were included in some 36 pages. Here are several pages from the 1987 edition. These were issued by the Mechanical Dept and could be quite handy in pre-computer days.

And page 19, which includes the #4451, an SD9 that had been a problem for me as it was involved in several successive incidents within 10 days, ranging from striking a pedestrian to a serious crossing accident on the Western Division.

Those are very handy little books.  Does anyone know anyone who sells them anymore?  I looked on Ebay with no luck.
