Railroaders' Nostalgia > RIP Tim Dickinson

I'm Saddened to report Retired SP/UP locomotive engineer Tim Dickinson (TO member alcoc636) passed away yesterday at his home in La Verne CA.
Tim was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in April of last year.
Tim continued to visit with friends and work on his World Class HO scale 1976 Burlington Northern pacific northwest layout right to the end.
Tim is survived by his wife of many years Lynne, and his stepson Jason.
He will be greatly missed by many.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be posted when available.

Sad news. I'm not much of a model RR person but I have to admit that Tim had a pretty cool layout. I always enjoyed swapping funny stories from the railroad with Tim whenever we ran into each other. He had a lot of them. His expressions as he told a story always had me rolling on the floor. Definitely a larger-than-life character.

Tough news, a really nice guy. RIP Tim.

A very tough loss.  My brother Rich (PasadenaSub on here) and I visited Tim earlier this year at his home and he gave us a tour of his fabulous layout.  The three of us took part in an epic 15-day railfan journey in 1982 from Southern California to the Upper Peninsual of Michigan and back, taking turns driving Tim's 1978 Mercury Zephyr.

Sincere condolences to Tim's wife Lynne.

Tim was my Southern Pacific simulator partner, back in 1979. He was one number ahead of me on the LA Division Engineers' roster. RIP Timmy.

Although our Southern Pacific time didn't allow Tim and I to work together by my leaving SP
in 1979, we connected here on TO's and shared several PM's about mutual friends and experiences.
Sorry for the family's loss and, more selfishly, our collective loss here on TO's--Tim was a gentleman
and one of the "bright lights" in our lives. He will be missed.

Sorry to also hear of Tim's passing. I knew Tim because he was a young standout engineer that always was in a good mood and outgoing. Even though we worked on separate divisions in the LA area ,we would make mainline changes at Taylor . RIP Tim.

I reflect the words of my brother about Tim.  Very much shocked upon reading this.  We got to visit him at his home in January of this year and I had been hoping for another, but it was not meant to be.
Will always remember his character, wife Lynne, his many cats, and the fabulous model railroad and its group of followers.
