heard of that happening on my section of the RR more than once...whole cars contents  of booze vanishing.

Fast forward to 2025, and imagine both a car of booze and a container of sneakers left unattended.  I wonder which would be hit first.

There have been incidents on the BNSF transcon where criminals boarded slowly moving freight trains, disconnected the air hose, and once the trains stopped, others boarded, opened the containers, and made off with the merchandise.

"i"ve been told" in the old days at Richmond CA, they would kick alcohol cars a little extra hard, to get a little "shlosh" out the overflow and catch it a tin cup...
