Spent Thursday and Friday up on Sandpatch, unfortunately it was rainy and quite foggy, initially I would have thought this was a bad thing. But the weather served two useful purposes, it kept fair-weather foamers out of the way, and made for some very moody and colorful photos.

My first submission is taken from Foley Overlook, and I owe a special thanks to another well accomplished amateur photographer, Mr. Dave Davies. Thanks Dave, I remembered seeing this photo quite sometime ago on your website and decided to give it a look for myself.

Here is Q368 motoring Eastbound down the valley under dense fog and beautiful color.

Here we see AMTRAK 30 "The Capitol Limited" passing the area where NA Tower used to stand.

Here is Q137 passing Mance Curve.

This is K839 passing Eastbound on Mance Curve with a trio of UP power, that paintjob blends in nicely with the colors this time of year.

Nice shots! That UP should get you a finalist in the contest. If you haven't checked out the K839 on the cam yet it shows the complete train rolling by.

They are all some nice photos. Good fall colors.

That's a problem out here in the West..we don't have many red or orange trees and so they really blend in...

Thanks. Did you look at Fairhope? I thought the colors there were geting better than Mance (see post below).

What is that 3rd DF GE unit-Standard Cab?? Looks to be a 4 axle??

It's a B36-7, CSXT #9151

Since you've obviously got a love affair with the B36-7 ;), you'll probably enjoy this. A lone B36-7 in YN2 leads a short work train out of Sandpatch Tunnel into the pouring down rain on Thursday.

BTW, the CSXT 9151 I believe is a Remote Control Unit.
